9 Month Update

Joshua is 9 months old today. What?? Say it isn't so!

Yep - 9 months

We went to the doctor today for his check up and he is weighing in at 22 pounds and stands (yes stands) at 28 inches tall.

I thought I would just kind of run through a list of accomplishments for Josh these days:
  • Sits completely on his own
  • Rolls all over the place (main mode of independent transportation)
  • Eating lots of fruits and veggies and homemade yogurt
  • Can feed himself puffs and graham crackers (slimy stuff is posing an issue)
  • Pulls himself to standing on someone's hands (or Grandpa B's cane)
  • Starting to get the concept of moving his legs to walk
  • Has seven (and a half) teeth. [The doc said half today, so I'm going to say half.]
  • Likes to click his tongue
  • Getting really good at waving
  • Understands "no"
  • Can play "Gimme five" or "High five"
  • Loves to laugh
  • Learning to drink from a sippy cup; can drink from a regular cup when held by someone else
I'm sure there are lots of others. I may add to the list. If you think of any I missed, add them in the comments.

He is such a joy. I am really looking forward to all our summer activities. We took him to the Cypress Festival last Saturday and he got to taste a little of my favorite - Shave Ice. Mmmm. I think he really liked the ice. We leave next week on a plane ride to the Midwest. It will be quite an adventure.

Swim Day

Summer has finally arrived! It has been slow to come with lots of dreary days well into July. As it approached I was wondering if we should buy a little kiddie pool for Josh. He is so fair skinned (like his mama) and our backyard is pretty devoid of shade. Then I spied with my little eyes a blow up pool with a detachable shade cover. PERFECT! I scooped it right up.

This week the heat hit so it was time to prepare the pool. Jim got to have the fun of blowing it up. Hee Hee!

It looked like a new fandangled form of bagpipes.

DaDa filling the pool.

This kid is just so stinkin' cute!!

Okay, so I KNOW this hat looks pretty goofy, but ya gotta love it, right? It had such a big rim and it kept reminding me of the Three Amigos. Hah!

"I just would like to know if YOU know what a plethora is."

Oops, I got distracted. (LOVE that movie by the way.)

Josh did pretty good in the pool. The water was pretty darn cold and he didn't like that part. But once he got used to it he had a great time.

We brought out some bath toys - we still need to get some official pool toys (are you listening Santa?).

Josh seemed to take great comfort in chewing on Pooh (Winnie the Pooh, that is).

Good times were had by all.

And after the pool, Josh was just so hyper and happy. I really think he had a lot of fun. I'm looking forward to more time in the pool with him. It will be real interesting to see how he does in the lakes in Michigan next month. We'll have to find a heated pool too sometime this summer so that hopefully he can really enjoy playing in the water.
